EXIT POLLS
ü The Election Commission banned the exit
polls in five poll bound states in November and December 2013.
ü Channels are also prohibited from
telecasting interviews of voters after they cast their vote.

SUPREME
COURT STAYS HIGH COURT RULING:
ü On November 6, 2013 the Gauhati High Court
verdict declared the CBI as unconstitutional.
ü The Supreme Court noticed the promptness
with which accused in many cases involving serious offences moved trail
courts seeking a stay on the cases against them with a view of High Court
order.
ü The DoPT (Department of Personnel and
Training) was not authorized to file the special leave petition as it was not
party in the High Court.
ü Note: The CBI functions under DoPT.
ü At present over 1000 cases are being
investigated by the CBI and 9000 trails currently under way.
ü Next hearing will be on December 6, 2013.
ü Till that time there are no hurdles in the
working of the CBI.

LEVEL SECURITY TO BJP’S PRIME MINISTERIAL CANDIDATE:
ü SPG – Special Protection Group
ü NSG – National Security Guards
ü NSG is also called Black Cat.
ü The central government decided not to take
any chance with reference to security to Narendra Modi the BJP’s Prime
Ministerial candidate especially after Patna blasts.
ü The SPG act allows security under this only
to the PM, former PMs and their immediate relatives.
ü Hence the center upgraded the security of
Modi to SPG level.
ü Modi is presently under NSG coverage with
18 commandos has now been upgraded to 36 commandos with a minimum of at least
a three layer security.
ü The Home Ministry provided him with ASL
(Advance Security Liaison) facility where by multi layer security checks are
conducted at his rally sites.
ü The ASL team performs a three day advance
and continuous check at the rally venues by the anti-terrorism squads and
state police.

SECURITY:
ü Majority of the Northeastern states
conveyed to the central government that it is not practical form them to
implement food security law.
ü The states admitted its ill preparedness to
implement the same.
ü The food minister is organizing a meeting
with the states to address this problem
ü The states also expresses their inability
to door deliver at fair price shops
ü Under food security act the implementation
is the responsibility of the state governments.
