The National Food Security ordinance was notified on July
5, 2013. After duly passed in both the houses of the Parliament, the
President gave his consent on September 12, 2013 to make it legislation. This
Act is called National Food Security Act, 2013. This extends to whole India. Implementation
is the responsibility of the states.
RESPOND:
ü Effective implementation of Food Security Act needs effective strengthening of local self governments.
