BAIL FOR LALU PRASAD:

ü  The Supreme Court on December 13, 2013 granted bail to the RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in a fodder scam case.

ü  For his alleged involvement in the fodder scam Lalu was awarded five years imprisonment by special court in Ranchi.  

ü  Lalu has already undergone 10 months of incarceration during trail and a 2 months after his conviction.



NEW CM FOR RAJASTHAN:

ü  On December 13, 2012 Vasundara Raje sworn in as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

ü  The Governor of Rajasthan Margaret Alva administered the oath of office to Vasundara Raje.

BIFURCATION OF AP:

ü  The proposed bill of bifurcation of the state of Andhra Pradesh reached the state.

ü  It was forwarded by the President of India to allow the state legislature to express its opinion under article 3 of the Indian constitution.


STALEMATE CONTINUES IN DELHI:

ü  With the fractured verdict in Delhi Assembly election the Lt. Governor exploring all possible opportunities to form the government and consulting the political parties.

ü  The BJP which is the single largest party denied forming the government.

ü  The AAP also signaled that it cannot form the government and not ready to extend the support or take the support from BJP and Congress.

ü  The AAP announced that it will be ready for the fresh elections.



SECTION 377:

ü  The Supreme Court judgment to criminalize the homosexuality under the section 377 of the Indian Penal Code led to the pressure on the government.

ü  The government of India looking into the options like going for review petition before a five member constitution bench or to go for the legislative process to decriminalize the act.
ü  The government may approach the judiciary or go for an ordinance.


LOKPAL BILL TABLED IN THE RAJYA SABHA:

ü  The much awaited Lok Pal bill has been tabled in the Rajya Sabha.

ü  The opposition parties are criticizing the government for the delay tactics.

ü  The government is under pressure as Anna Hazare already launched the indefinite hunger strike on the same issue.
