HUMAN GEOGRAPHY:

ü  This is one of the important disciplines of the Geography.

ü  It is concerned with the spatial patterns of human activities.

ü  The Human Geography focuses on the human activities.

ü  It can also be said that it is the interactions between human beings and their environments.

ü  The spatial distribution of the population is uneven.

ü  Some areas are highly populated.

ü  Some areas are sparsely populated.

  • Ecumen Areas: These are the areas that are highly favourable for human occupancy.


  • Non-ecumen areas: These are the areas that are not favourable for human occupancy.


ü  Some areas are economically developed.

ü  Some areas are economically backward.

ü  Some areas have high literacy rate.

ü  Some areas have low literacy rate.

ü  (This sort of difference can also be seen within the same country also).

ü  There are so many fields that can be discussed under Human Geography.


Cultural Geography

ü  This is the study of cultural patterns and their variations across the regions, languages, economics, government etc.

ü  Modernization, Westernization, Globalization etc can be the part of Cultural Geography.

Development Geography:

ü  This is the study with reference to standard of living and quality of life.

ü  In the study of Development Geography the factors like
·         Social

·         Economic
        
        And

·         Political

ü  Are taken into consideration.

ü  The economically highly developed countries are compared to low developed countries.

ü  The concept of Sustainable Development that is gaining a great importance is a part of Development Geography.


What is Sustainable Development?

ü   This is the effective utilization of available resources.

ü  It is meeting the needs of the people of present without compromising the needs of the future generation.


ü  The concepts like

v  Gross Domestic Product

v  Unemployment

v  Inflation

v  And

v  Balance of Payment (All these are discussed in detail in Economy Subject)

ü  Will be studied and compared.

ü  The Social conditions  like

v  Population

v  Birth Rate

v  Death Rate
