ü  In September 2000, the World leaders came together at the UN headquarters in New York adopted the UN Millennium Declaration committing to a new global partnership to reduce extreme poverty and setting out a series of time bound targets with a dead line of 2015.

  ü  The MDGs range from halving the extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education all by the target date of 2015.

  ü  The declaration was signed by 189 nations.

  ü  These are 8 in number.

  ü  These are the 8 goals for 2015.

  ü  This became the 8 Millennium development goals to be achieved by 2015.

      2.      Achieve universal Primary Education

      3.      Promote gender equality and empower women

      4.      Reduce child mortality

      5.      Improve maternal health

      6.      Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases

      7.      Ensure environmental Sustainability

      8.      Develop a global partnership for development
