- The Law Minister of India Kapil Sibal proposed a bill to keep criminals
away from politics. Even if they not are convicted, even if they are charged
with very serious offences like murder, kidnap, rape, which carries a minimum
sentence of seven years, should not be allowed to contest in the elections.
