MACAU GRAND PRIX:


ü  P V Sindhu won the Gold medal in Macau Open Grand Prix

ü  She defeated Canada’s Michelle Li in the finals.

ü  She  defeated the rival with 21-15, 21-12 in a span of 37 minutes

ü  This is her second Grand Prix Gold title.

ü  She already won Malaysia open in May.

ü  She was bestowed with Arjuna Award this year.




A K GANGULY:


ü  He was the former Judge of the Supreme Court.

ü  An intern accused him of sexually assaulting her.

ü  At present he is the Chairman for West Bengal Human Rights Commission.

ü  The demand for his removal is increasing.

ü  The former Attorney-General of India Soli Sorabjee said that Ganguly need not resign. It would set a dangerous precedent.



JUVENILES TO BE TRIED LIKE ADULTS:


ü  The government has proposed that youngsters above 16 years of age who are guilty of heinous crimes be treated on par with adult offenders.

ü  UN rules for Juvenile Justice state that the punishment shall be in proportion to circumstances and gravity of offence.

ü  The Supreme Court in the July rejected the petition for lowering the age of juvenility from the existing 18 years to 16 years.



SNOOPING CASE:

ü  The central government said that it enquires into the snooping case of Gujarat.

ü  This is in the wake of alleged snooping on a woman from the state at the behest of Amit Shah  a close aide of Narendra Modi.




FIRST WOMEN BSF UNIT:


ü  BSF – Border Security Force

ü  For the first time in the History of BSF day parade its Mahila Contingent marched shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts.

ü  This was done on the occasion of the 48th BSF day that was held on December 1, 2013.



RBI:


ü  The Reserve Bank of India made a pin number mandatory for validating transactions through credit and debit cards.

ü  This has been done to make card usage safer.

ü  This is not possible in the on board airlines.

ü  There is not technology available for swiping the cards with the pin numbers in the air.

ü  Hence accepting cards in the air has been stopped by the Indigo air lines.

ü  The banks are trying to work out a mechanism for re-introduction swipe machine in the air.
