A RIOT VICTIM RAPED:
ü A 20 year old woman who was living with her family at a relief camp in Jogya Kheri village in Fugana area in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh was allegedly raped by two young men. The medical examination confirmed the rape.

CHILD MARRIAGE – Trial Court in New Delhi:


ü Someone who is younger than 18 years is a child according to Indian laws. Prohibition of Child Marriage Act prescribes jail for anyone including parents for allowing child marriage.
ü A survey says that every second bride in the country is a child.
ü Section 376 (rape) of IPC (Indian Penal Code) does not treat the rape committed by a husband on his wife above the age of 15 years as an offence.
ü The Court acquitted Prashant Kumar Sahani of raping and kidnapping a minor. Since the girl was married to the accused willingly and was aged more than 15 years at the time of the incident the general law would not apply in this case.
ü The court said the child marriage in not void but voidable.

ELECTION COMMISSION:

ü The EC has sought the opinion of the political parties for banning the opinion polls.
ü The Congress party responded positively for banning the same saying that it is neither scientific nor transparent. The BJP, CPI etc criticized the view of the Congress party.
ü Opinion poll is a public opinion from a sample population by conducting a series of questions.

UK VISA ISSUE:

ü In UK (United Kingdom) the visitors from high risk nations like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka,  Nigeria and Ghana on their short term trip would have to pay 3,000 pound cash bond before arrival. The amount will be forfeited if they fail to make the return trip.  
ü The Home office announced that this controversial issue will be scrapped.
